Epic Games launched its Unreal Engine 4 just days ago. The company showcased what its latest gaming engine can do at this year’s Game Developer Conference. Among them was one running on a Google Nexus 5 smartphone and the results are, simply put, quite impressive. Here’s a short video running on what is presumably a stock Nexus 5 powered by a Snapdragon 800, Adreno 330 GPU and Android 4.4:

As impressive as this demonstration is, there is promise for even better. The Google Nexus 5 runs on the now year-old Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Newer processors such as the NVIDIA K1 which packs a 192-core NVIDIA Kepler GPU and the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 promise that we are in for another leap forward in mobile gaming.
It remains to be seen what mobile games running the Unreal Engine 4 emerge in the coming months.
