Rumours that Samsung is readying a smaller version of its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone continue to gather steam. After the new device made an appearance on Samsung UK’s website as the Galaxy S5 Dx, it has surfaced on the GFXBench website as the Samsung SM-G800H with specifications in tow.
Nothing has yet directly tied the Samsung SM-G800x to the Samsung Galaxy S5 Dx (or Galaxy S5 mini or Galaxy S5 Neo) except for such a connection by the usually reliable SamMobile. We will assume for now that they are one and the same.
Here are the rumoured Samsung SM-G800H specifications presented by GFXBench:
- Processor: Quad-core (1.4GHz × 4) Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- Cellular connectivity:
- Other connectivity: GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
- Display: 4.8-inch HD (720×1280)
- RAM: 1.3GB
- Internal storage: 16GB
- Rear-facing camera: 7MP (without HDR mode)
- Front-facing camera: 2MP
- Sensors: Accelerometer, pedometer
As a comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch display and the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini sports a 4.3-inch one. With a 4.8-inch display, Samsung may have realized that calling it mini was a bit of a stretch and decided to go with the Dx branding instead.
There is no word on when Samsung could announce the Galaxy S5 Dx (or Galaxy S5 mini).
