The hack on Sony Pictures Entertainment has revealed quite a few details about the inner workings of the company. Everything from full movies to celebrity aliases and top executive salaries have been exposed. The leak may have also revealed concept designs for the Sony Xperia Z4.
The designs turned up in an email sent from Sony Electronics to Sony Pictures Entertainment. The email focuses on placement and marketing fees to have Sony’s new smartphones featured in the next James Bond movie (Spectre). It also includes prototype designs that give us a glimpse at “the new Z4 Phones.”
The images show a device that may be somewhat different from current Xperia design. One prototype touts “hardness + softness” and shows what appears to be cushioned back:

No specific details are provided about the Sony Xperia Z4. Given that Sony Mobile unveiled the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Compact at MWC 2014, the new smartphones may well be announced in the late Q1 time frame again.
The Sony Xperia Z4 was not the only device teased in the leak. Also revealed appears to be a new activity tracker.
Sony Mobile is planning to offer a smaller product portfolio in 2015 but the leaked email suggests that the Xperia line will continue to feature prominently in its plans next year.
