Sony Mobile unveiled its current flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z2, back at Mobile World Congress. With other manufacturers planning to upgrade their lineups with WQHD displays and faster processors such as the Snapdragon 805 later this year, it should come as no surprise that Sony is also readying a refresh. It appears that three devices are planned according to Chinese social media sources. The three are codenamed Pegasus, Leo and Aries.
The Leo is reportedly none other than the Sony Xperia Z3. The Aries could be the Xperia Z3 Compact. No information is provided about the Pegasus although one post suggests it could be the Xperia Z2u. Could it be the Xperia Z2 variant expected to go to Verizon Wireless?
Earlier rumours about the Sony Xperia Z3 have suggested that Sony may move away from current design philosophy and adopt a metal frame with a PVD coating for improved impact and corrosion resistance. It is also expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 20.7MP camera. Unlike Samsung and LG, Sony could stick to a Full HD (1080×1920) display for its next flagship smartphone.
Sony could unveil some if not all of its new lineup as early as August or September.
