Rumours about the next generation of Apple smartphones have consistently suggested that they, assuming that there is more than one as has been indicated so far, will come with a larger display. A leaked document obtained by Nowhereelse.fr today only reinforces this. It allegedly reveals the Apple iPhone 6 dimensions and looks to be large enough to sport a display no smaller than 5 inches diagonally.
The alleged document, obtained from China, reportedly shows the dimensions of the device as well as measurements to add the Apple logo and various texts on the back of the device. It would presumably be used to calibrate the equipment that will be used to perform this operation. It indicates that the iPhone 6 will measure 150 millimeters by 85 millimeters but does not provide information about its thickness. In comparison, the Apple iPhone 5S measures 123.8 millimeters by 58.6 millimeters.
While on the surface this appears to give further credence to past rumours, it turns out that it does not line up with them instead. The consensus right now is that Apple will release a larger iPhone with a 4.7- or 4.8-inch display as well as a larger phablet device with a 5.5- to 5.7-inch display. The schematic falls roughly between the two.
It could well be that the document is nothing more than a fake. It could also be an early sign that Apple has decided to go with a larger or smaller display for one of its two rumoured devices.
