Samsung is on a bit of tear these days when it comes to trademark registrations with the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO). We told you earlier this week about a number of new filings for terms such as Gear VR and Gear Blink. You can now add two more to the list: Gear Store and Samsung Gear Store.
The description for both is pretty broad but includes the following:
Computer application software for wearable computer peripherals, wearable computers, wearable mobile phones, smartphones, mobile phones, tablet computers, portable media players and handheld computers, namely, software for use in searching, reviewing, purchasing, and downloading electronic games and software applications
With Samsung expected to grow the range of Gear products available later this year, it may have decided to give them their own app store rather than including them in the Samsung Apps store. The Samsung Gear Store could provide apps for the current Gear and Gear 2 smartwatches as well as upcoming products such as a virtual headset and smartglasses.
Both filings were submitted this week.
