It was only yesterday that we learned that the next Samsung flagship smartphone was in the “early stages of development” as Project Zero. Expected to launch as the Samsung Galaxy S6, little was revealed yesterday but new details, including preliminary specifications, have come to light today courtesy once again of SamMobile.
Their sources have revealed that Samsung is currently considering giving Project Zero a WQHD (2560×1440) display, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP or 20MP rear camera with OIS and the same IMX240 sensor as is found on the Galaxy Note 4 and a 5MP front-facing camera. 32, 64 and 128GB variants are planned.
On the SoC side, it appears that Samsung will once again go with a two processor strategy for different markets. One version could be powered by the still-unannounced Exynos 7420, a 64-bit octa-core processor with four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53 cores. It would be paired with a new Samsung LTE modem (model SS333 or Exynos Modem 333). The other variant coudl use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, another 64-bit processor.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 could also be the first smartphone to use Broadcom’s new BCM4773 chip which combines a number of sensors and GPS onto a single chip to improve battery life.
It should come as no surprise that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be launched globally in a number of market and carrier variants, including one for Bell Mobility:
