Samsung today unveiled the Samsung Gear S smartwatch. Unlike most smartwatches on the market today, the Gear S comes with 3G connectivity. Such a feature eliminates the need to tether the smartwatch to a smartphone to make and receive calls, giving consumers “the freedom to live their life on the go.” It will also let users easily control how they want to connect and will automatically synchrone information when paired to a smartphone.
While the Samsung Gear S does not sport a round display, it does away with the square ones on previous Gear models in favour of a 2-inch curved rectangular one. It can also be customized with different screen options and interchangeable straps to”empower users to express their own taste and style.”
“Samsung is leading this exciting and rapidly developing wearable category through progressive innovation,” said JK Shin, CEO and head of IT & mobile communication at Samsung Electronics. “The Samsung Gear S redefines the idea of the smart wearable and the culture of mobile communication. It will let consumers live a truly connected life anywhere, anytime.”
