While most of Samsung’s attention is likely focused on the upcoming launch of the Galaxy S5, there is still enough life in the Galaxy S4 that another variant can be launched. The Samsung Galaxy S4 ‘Black Edition’ (GT-I9505DKYSER) was today unveiled in Russia.
So what makes this latest variant worthy of its own name? In fact, there is little that is different under the hood between it and the as the GT-I9505 with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. But instead of the usual glossy fingerprint-friendly plastic cover, the Black Edition comes with the stitched faux-leather back plate that was introduced with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Needless to say, it comes in black.
A Black Edition of the she Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was released alongside as well.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Edition and Galaxy S4 Mini Black Edition will launch in Russia in February. Early pricing details suggest that it could come with a slight premium over the standard edition. There is no word yet on whether Samsung plans on bringing them to other corners of the world.
