Could this be the Samsung Galaxy S6?

Rumoured Samsung Galaxy S6Rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S6 have been building since last summer. Suggesting that a launch is getting ever so slowly closer, little known (in these parts of the world) Iranian blog Toranji.ir now claims to have obtained images of a “fully assembled and running Galaxy S6.”

One of the two images has the Galaxy S6 next to the older Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5. The second shows the upcoming flagship in three different colours. Confirming earlier rumours, both appear to show that the Galaxy S6 will indeed sport a brushed metal frame.

Despite rumours that the Samsung Galaxy S6 (or Project Zero as it is reportedly codenamed) would be built “from scratch with an entirely new vision,” the images reveal a rather familiar design with elements such as the rounded physical Home button and overall rounded design. Other elements such as the user interface should make the Galaxy S6 instantly familiar to anyone who has used other recent Galaxy S devices despite the update to Android Lollipop.

If legitimate, Samsung’s next flagship smartphone may be less of a radical new redesign than early signs had led us to believe. Is a new metal body enough to reverse the flagging fortunes of the Galaxy S line? It’s unlikely but Samsung may have other surprises under the hood as well.

The report does not shed any new light on specifications. Based on earlier rumours, we can expect the Galaxy S6 to come with a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 (or a still-unannounced 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 in some markets), Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 5.2- or 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display.

While some rumours suggest that Samsung could unveil the Galaxy S6 at CES 2015, a launch in the later part of Q1 is almost more certainly likely.
