Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime (SM-G906S and SM-G906K) heads to India for testing

Samsung SM-G906S and SM-G906K shipment noticesWhile Samsung has denied that such a device even exists, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime has made its way to Samsung’s testing facility in India for “R&D purpose.” The latest evidence for the device comes courtesy of India’s Zauba import and export shipment tracking database. In fact, the database reveals not only the SM-G906S which has already appeared on benchmarks but also the SM-G906K.

As usual, the Zauba database reveals little about the devices themselves. Based on model numbers alone, the SM-G906S is likely headed to Korea’s SK Telecom while the SM-G906K should be headed to KT.

Based on earlier rumours, the Samsung SM-G906S and SM-G906K should come with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 paired with an Adreno 420 GPU, Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a 5.2-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display, 3 GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (25GB available), a 15MP rear camera (more likely a 16MP one), 2MP front-camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a range of sensors including a barometer.

The Zauba database also shows that Samsung shipped the SM-G900R4 to India. Also tied to Galaxy S5 prime rumours a while back, past benchmarks have shown it come with with WQHD (2560×1440) display and an older Snapdragon 801 processor.

Along with a number of already announced devices, it appears that Samsung has shipped a number of other still-unannounced devices. Among them are the SM-G870A which is expected to launch as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active and the SM-G800F which could follow as the Galaxy S5 Neo. Also on the list is the SM-Z9005 which should be the first Samsung Tizen handset.

It all suggests that Samsung will continue to release smartphones at a frantic pace as it seeks to reach every possible market.
