Since the first of its name launched in 2011, the Samsung Galaxy Note has established itself as a flagship smartphone for those who like a bigger screen. The next iteration is widely expected to launch in early September at IFA 2014. Rumours have already started to circulate, partly in response to Samsung’s own hints that it will sport a new form factor. GSMArena has learned that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will come with a 5.7-inch WQHD (2560×1440), the same physical size as the current Galaxy Note 3 albeit with a higher resolution.
As the report points out, each successive Galaxy Note device has grown by 0.2-inch. The original Galaxy Note sported a 5.3-inch display, the Galaxy Note II a 5.5-inch one and the Galaxy Note 3 a 5.7-inch one. With rumours of a three-sided display, it could well be that the Galaxy Note 4 will have a 5.9-inch display that wraps around the edges, giving it a front display measuring 5.7 inches diagonally.
The leaked document also reveals that the Galaxy Note 4 is codenamed Muscat and will launch bearing model number SM-N91x.
The new rumour lines up nicely with earlier ones. These have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be water-resistant. It could also pack a hexa-core Samsung Exynos or Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of onboard storage, a battery with a capacity between 3600 and 3800mAh and a 20.1MP camera with OIS and 4K video capture.
With rumours refusing to die down that Samsung will launch a premium version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 with a WQHD display in early summer, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 looks set to once again take on the specifications of its smaller sibling but in a bigger package.
