Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite to launch as Galaxy Note 3 Neo?

Rumoured Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo specificationsThe Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite has been rumoured in the past to be an upcoming cheaper and less powerful variant of the Galaxy Note 3. Newly leaked documents now suggest that the device is indeed real but that many details about it may have been incorrect. Documents obtained by GSMArena now point to the device having more in common with the older Galaxy Note 2 but with an interesting twist. It also appears that it will launch as the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.

The leaked documents reveal that the Galaxy Note 3 Neo will come with a new hexa-core processor with four cores clocked at 1.3GHz and another two at 1.7GHz. It’s not clear though if this is a new Samsung Exynos processor or one sourced from another supplier.

Irrespective of the name, it does appear that it will be a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Note 3 for those looking for a phablet with stylus input. A Samsung positioning document also points out the Galaxy Note 3 Neo’s advantages over the Apple iPhone 5S, suggesting that Samsung still sees the latter as the smartphone to beat.

With CES 2014 wrapping up (with no sign of any new Exynos processors), Samsung may now wait until MWC 2014 to unveil the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
