Most rumours to date have suggested that Samsung will announce the premium Samsung Galaxy F at IFA 2014 alongside the Galaxy Note 4 and other devices such as the Galaxy VR headset. New rumours suggest we could see it launch earlier as the Galaxy Alpha.
South Korea’s ETNews reports that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Alpha, still a working name that could change once more, on August 13. The report adds that the metal-clad Galaxy Alpha will be the first in a new line of premium devices that will be offered alongside the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices.
With Samsung having recently launched the Galaxy S5 LTE-A in South Korea in June, we can expect that the Galaxy F will sport the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, a 5.1-inch (or 5.3-inch?) WQHD (2560×1440) display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 16MP rear camera possibly with optical image stabilization and the same array of sensors as the Samsung Galaxy S5.
An announcement in August would give the Galaxy Alpha or Galaxy F the spotlight. It would also allow Samsung to focus more on the Galaxy Note 4 and associated accessories at the IFA event in September.
The Galaxy F August announcement is expected to be followed by a September launch in time to take on the upcoming Apple iPhone 6.
