It now appears that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha may launch even sooner the mid-August time frame that recent rumours suggested. Samsung’s first Android smartphone to sport a metal frame has been rumoured for a long time but all could finally be revealed finally on August 4.
Unfortunately, it now appears that the Galaxy Alpha will not be the premium flagship device that so many rumours suggested it would be. It now appears that the device will instead fall in the mid- to high-range of the spectrum below the Samsung Galaxy S5 and upcoming Galaxy Note 4. Rumoured specifications include a 4.8-inch HD (720×1280) display, 32GB of internal storage with no external storage and a fingerprint scanner.
With no sign of any event invitations yet and the launch date only days away, it now appears that this will be a low-key affair at best. This would certainly be another sign that this will not be a premium device.
With Samsung expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 4 at IFA 2014 in early September, Samsung is likely looking to put as much distance between the two events as it possibly can. This will ensure that both events get as much attention as possible, especially as the company has seen its smartphone sales slow down recently.
