Samsung today announced its new Chromebook 2 Series line consisting of two new Chromebooks that will replace last year’s model. The names are a bit confusing as this new Samsung Chromebook 2 Series replaces the older Series 3 Chromebook from last year. Both come wrapped in the stitched faux-leather finish that Samsung first introduced with the Galaxy Note 3.
Here is what we know about the Samsung Chromebook 2 Series in terms of specifications:
- Processor: 1.9GHz (11.6-inch) or 2.1GHz (13.3-inch) octa-core Samsung Exynos 5
- Operating system: Google Chrome OS
- Display: 11.6-inch HD (1366×768) or 13.3-inch Full HD (1080×1920)
- RAM: 4GB DDR3
- Internal storage: 16GB (with 100GB of Google Drive storage)
- External storage: MicroSD cards
- Rear-facing camera: None
- Front-facing camera: 720p
- Connectors: 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI-out, USB 3.0 port , USB 2.0 port
- Colours: Black or white (11.6-inch) and Titan Gray (13.3-inch)
Both will come with a “Software Value Pack” worth about US$100. Among the included apps will be AirDroid.
The 11.6-inch Samsung Chromebook 2 will sell for US$319.99 while the 13.3-inch model will sell for US$399.99. They are set to go on sale in the U.S. in April.
