While Microsoft is widely expected to unveil Windows Phone 8.1 at its Build 2014 conference later this week, at least one smartphone that will launch next month looks set to do so with the older Windows Phone 8 onboard. Citing “sources familiar with Verizon’s plans,” The Verge reports that the Samsung ATIV SE will ship with Windows Phone 8 with an update to follow once it’s ready.
The report reconfirms some earlier details about the Samsung ATIV SE as well. Among these are a 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display and 2GB of RAM. It adds that it will come with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (rather than the Snapdragon 400 initially reported), 16GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot and a 13MP camera. As we saw from earlier pictures, it is reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S4, down to the fake brushed metal finish on the back.
Verizon Wireless is expected to launch the Samsung ATIV SE in April.
