A quick reminder this morning that BlackBerry will formally unveil the BlackBerry Classic at 1000 ET (0700 PT) today. Launch events will take place in New York City as well as Frankfurt in Germany and Singapore. If you’re not attending one of these events in person, you can still catch the event live as BlackBerrry will livestream the event. All you need to do is visit http://live.blackberry.events.
While BlackBerry has yet to reveal all of the specifications of the BlackBerry Classic, it has heavily touted the return of the iconic BlackBerry button belt with its ‘Menu,’ ‘Back,’ ‘Send’ and ‘End’ buttons and a trackpad. We also know that it will come with BlackBerry OS 10.3.1, a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a full QWERTY physical keyboard and LTE and HSPA+ connectivity.
We’ll have full details of the BlackBerry Classic launch later this morning. If you can’t wait, you can already pre-order it from ShopBlackBerry for CA$499 (US$449). A number of Canadian carriers have already confirmed plans to carry it and we should see it pop up on their websites later today or in the coming days. Among them are Bell Mobility, Rogers Wireless, SaskTel, Virgin Mobile Canada and WIND Mobile.
The BlackBerry Classic may not be the device for everyone but there is a palpable sense of excitement at what is essentially a retro BlackBerry device. Are you among those looking forward to it? Let us know below.
