Price of Nokia X revealed?

Rumoured Nokia X on Mainguyen websiteThe Android-powered Nokia X (also known as the Nokia Normandy) has yet to be announced but much has been revealed about it thanks to a number of rumours. With a focus on emerging markets such as India, the price of Nokia’s first Android smartphone will be key to its success. A report yesterday suggested that it could come in at about CNY1500 (about CA$270), higher than expected. A report today suggests that it will be priced lower than that. In fact, the price of the Nokia X could be significantly cheaper.

A listing for the Nokia X A110 on Vietnamese online retailer Mainguyen’s website appears to reveal specifications while a Facebook post suggests that it will sell for between VND2.2 and VND2.5 million (about CA$115 to CA$130).

As for the posted specifications, here is what Mainguyen reveals:

  • Processor: 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat
  • Other connectivity: A-GPS, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Display: 4-inch FWVGA (480×854/~285PPI)
  • RAM: 512MB
  • Internal storage: 4GB
  • External storage: MicroSD cards up to 32GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 5MP
  • Front-facing camera: None

These specifications line up nicely with ones revealed by previous rumours.

A Nokia X announcement could come as early as MWC 2014, a likely scenario if the smartphone is then set to launch in emerging markets such as India in March. It could be the first of a number of Android-powered Nokia smartphones if a rumour yesterday is to be believed.
