A new version of the HTC One (M8) has appeared on HTC China’s website as the HTC One (E8). At first glance, it appears that this is the site for a contest rather than the product page itself. It reveals only a few details about the device but does confirm that the the all-metal unibody design has made way for a cheaper plastic body. On the back, a 13MP single sensor camera with single LED flash has replaced the HTC Duo camera.
The site also reveals that the HTC One (E8) will come with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, a 5MP front camera and HTC BoomSound with dual-front-facing speakers. Four colours appear to be on tap: Blue, Red, Black and White.
Rumours also indicate that the HTC One (E8) will retain the 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display but that still has to be confirmed. Other specifications are still a bit of a mystery but past rumours hinted that they would be very similar to those of the HTC One (M8).
HTC is expected to formally unveil the HTC One (E8) on June 3. There is no word at this point whether it will reach North America at a future point.
