While the smartwatch market continues to get more crowded, Pebble, continues to make improvements to the operating system that runs its Pebble watches. Firmware 2.5 adds a number of new features including the much requested support for emoji.

For all those who picked up a new iPhone 6 or updated their existing iOS devices to iOS 8, Pebble OS firmware 2.5 also adds iOS 8 compatibility. It also includes better notification support by clearing them from the Notification Center when they are dismissed on the Pebble. A similar enhancement is also on its way for Android users.
Pebble has also opened up the magnetometer on the Pebble. Compass features are now available and developers will be able to use the new feature in their own apps.
To update the firmware on your Pebble, open the Pebble app and select Support > Update Your Pebble if the the update does not begin automatically.
