If OnePlus’ invitation system has yielded nothing but disappointment and frustration for you in your quest to get your hands on a OnePlus One, mark October 27 on your calendar. OnePlus announced today that it will begin to take OnePlus One pre-orders on that day at 1500 GMT (0800 PST, 1100 EST). You will need to be quick though as the company will only take pre-orders for one hour!
To better your chances of getting in, OnePlus today began to let customers set up their pre-order information ahead of the actual event:
With our pre-order system, you’ll be able to place your order for the One and immediately be told the estimated shipping time. Starting today, for the seven days prior to pre-orders you will be able to arrange your shopping cart and save it just how you like it to ensure your checkout goes quickly and smoothly during the pre-orders hour. If you get an invite after submitting your pre-order, you can use it to skip the queue and get your device shipped right away.
To celebrate this first pre-order window, OnePlus will offer their accessories at “celebratory sale prices when added to your order.” For example, the just announced JBL E1+ Earphones will sell for US$24.99 instead of the usual US$39.99.
At the same time, the pre-order system will not replace the invitation system. If you manage to obtain an invite, you can use it to have your OnePlus One shipped immediately.
With such a short pre-order window, OnePlus risks having potential customers overwhelm its servers. If this happens, it will be another black eye for a company that is still striving to establish itself and its brand.
