The new partnership between OnePlus and JBL was just announced today and has already yielded its first product, the JBL E1+ Earphones. A second one is not far behind either. This one is not quite as new though. The OnePlus One JBL Special Edition is a slightly redesigned OnePlus One smartphone that marks the new collaboration between the two companies.
The OnePlus One JBL Special Edition is a modified version of the 16GB Sandstone model. Along with the JBL logo on the back and the bundled JBL E1+ Earphones, it will come with a custom dual-speaker JBL configuration designed to improve the audio and stereo output. It also comes with its own custom JBL equalizer app.
It remains to be seen if the JBL Special Edition model will eventually make it over to the 64GB model as well.
The OnePlus One JBL Special Edition is priced at RMB2,199.99 (about CA$400). It is expected to launch later this month although availability is likely to be more limited than that of the regular OnePlus One model. The Chinese OnePlus One forums reveal that it will go on sale in China on October 17 via OnePlus’ Chinese website and at the Jingdong Mall in Beijing. Wider Chinese availability will follow a day later. It is not clear though whether it will be available outside of China at a later point.
