Lenovo yesterday acquired Motorola from Google for US$2.91 billion. Aside from buying itself a company that delivered two of the best smartphones of 2013 (for different reasons), Lenovo may also have pushed its way to the front of the line as manufacturer for the next Nexus device. Following his prediction that Google will retire its Nexus line in 2015, Mobile-review’s Eldar Murtazin now predicts that Lenovo will launch “one of the last Nexus product [sic]” later this year. He continues to stand by his claim that Google will retire its Nexus brand in 2015 in favour of a rebranded Google Play edition line.
It remains to be seen if this Lenovo Nexus device will be a smartphone or a tablet but Murtazin predicts that Lenovo will focus its attention on the U.S. market and is expecting significant sales, saying that “volume will be huge.” In a follow-up tweet, he explains further that “if you give customer right product, it will sell in volume.”
Lenovo will launch one of the last Nexus product 🙂 volume will be huge and it will be focused on US market.

Despite being the world’s fifth largest smartphone manufacturer in 2013 according to IDC, Lenovo has yet to establish any kind of a presence in the North American smartphone market. The Motorola brand, well known in the U.S., could help it change that.
Do you think that Lenovo might build a flagship-level Nexus device and sell it at a bargain price in order to get its brand better established? Let us know below.
