NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet and wireless controller revealed?

Rumoured NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet and controllerWe caught a glimpse of the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet earlier this week. New promotional images obtained by VideoCardz.com have now given us another glimpse at the tablet. Better yet, they have also revealed the specifications of the tablet and confirmed that a SHIELD wireless controller and tablet cover will be offered alongside as accessories.

The tablet looks much like it did on the first image we saw this week. As for specifications, here is what we can expect:

  • Other connectivity: GPS/GLONASS, dual-channel 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE
  • Display: 8-inch Full HD (1080×1920) IPS LCD
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Internal storage: 32GB on LTE model / 16GB on Wi-Fi model
  • External storage: MIcroSD cards up to 128GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 5MP AF HDR
  • Front-facing camera: 5MP HDR
  • Dimensions: 221 × 126 × 9.2 millimeters
  • Weight: 390 Grams
  • Other: Stylus, front-facing speakers

The NVIDIA SHIELD Wireless controller will come with dual analog joysticks, a d-pad, left and right analog triggers and bumpers and A, B, X and Y buttons. It will also have Android Home and Back buttons, a Start button, volume controls and a capacitive touchpad. It will use Wi-Fi Direct to connect to the SHIELD tablet. NVIDIA expects that such a connection could reduce lag to half of what you would see with a Bluetooth connection.

According to the images, the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet will launch in both Canada and the U.S. on July 29. The 16GB Wi-Fi model will sell for US$299 and the 32GB LTE one for US$399. The SHIELD Controller will sell for an additional US$59. A SHIELD cover will sell for US$39.

NVIDIA is expected to announce its new SHIELD tablet on July 22.
