NVIDIA recently filed a patent infringement suit against Qualcomm and Samsung. The suit, the first of its kind for NVIDIA, alleges that the two companies are are infringing seven GPU patents and have so far been unwilling to negotiate licensing fees for those patents. In documents filed in support of this lawsuit, NVIDIA has inadvertently confirmed what weeks of rumours have been telling us, namely that the Google Nexus 9 is indeed real and coming soon. The document in question was quickly pulled down but not before sharp eyes at Bright Side of News snapped a screenshot.
A passage in a document reveals that NVIDIA expects that the HTC Nexus 9 will launch sometime in the third quarter of the year. It also adds that it should be powered by an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor.
Given that Q3 wraps up at the end of the month, we can expect that it will not be much longer before Google makes some kind of announcement not only about the Google Nexus 9 but also about Android L (Lemon Meringue Pie or Lion?).
All we’re really missing now is a specific launch date and some pricing details. A recent rumour suggested the launch could happen on or before October 9.
Along with the Tegra K1 processor, the Google Nexus 9 is rumoured to come with Android L, an Intel MDM9x25 model on the LTE model, 4GB of RAM, GPS, NFC, an 8MP camera with Sony IMX219 sensor and a front 1.6MP camera.
