Nokia unveiled the Lumia 1020 with its 41MP BSI camera sensor more than a year ago. A rumour now suggests that Microsoft which now owns the Nokia Devices & Services group is readying a successor to that flagship device. This new device is said to also sport a 41MP PureView camera.
With a year’s worth of technological advances, the new 41MP PureView camera module should not jut out from the back as much as it does on the Lumia 1020. At the same time, the camera bump will not completely disappear.
Other than details about the camera, little is known about this new device at this point. We don’t even have a model number to go on yet.
The only other bit of information we have suggests that Microsoft is working through some production issues.
Microsoft this week announced its “affordable flagship” Lumia 830 which comes with a 10MP PureView camera along with the Lumia 730 and 735. It apears that all that Microsoft is now missing from its latest smartphone portfolio is a true flagship device. The Nokia Lumia 1020 successor would certainly fit that role nicely.
