Nokia may be the latest manufacturer to fall for the Mini bug where a smaller version of a device joins its larger sibling some time later. According to China’s WPBar, Nokia will launch a smaller version of the Lumia 1520 as the Lumia 1520V.
Unlike many manufacturers that downgrade many of the specifications of their mini smartphones, Nokia looks to be going the Sony route where the device, while smaller, retains many of the specifications of its larger brethren. According to the report, the Nokia Lumia 1520V will have a smaller 4.3-inch AMOLED display instead of the Lumia 1520’s 6-inch one but retain the Full HD (1080×1920) resolution.
Other specifications such as the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and support for wirless charging will apparently remain unchanged. But a few specifications will be downgraded, including the 14MP PureView camera (down from 20MP), a smaller 3,000mAh battery and the loss of the microSD card slot.
The report adds that the Nokia Lumia 1520V will run Windows Phone 8.1, suggesting a launch to follow once Microsoft has formally unveiled the next version of Windows Phone.
The Nokia Lumia 1520V could launch in certain markets as the Lumia Icon or the Lumia 929 for Verizon (which in past rumours was to sport a 5-inch display).
