New straps and apps coming to Moto 360

Motorola Moto 360When Motorola unveiled the Moto 360 back in March, it promised it would come in a variety of styles and “premium materials.” But when it launched (on October 31 here in Canada), options were rather limited. Motorola today announced that it is finally broadening that range of options, including the much anticipated models with metal bands as well as new leather wristband options.

Motorola today launched the Moto 360 with either light or dark metal bands. Available now on Motorola.com, they sell for US$299. Models with slimmer bands are also coming soon and will be available in both light metal as well as a new champagne gold finish that Amazon recently revealed prematurely. The slim light metal band model will also sell for U$299 while the new gold model will sell for US$329. There is no word on whether any of these will be coming to Canada.

For those who already have a Moto 360, they will soon have a choice of three new leather options, stone, black and cognac leather. Light and dark metal bands will also be available. The company has also partnered with DODOcase to offer stitched leather bands in four new colors and TYLT for colourful silicone bands.

Motorola is also bringing new watchfaces to the Moto 360, including the one designed by Moto 360 Design Face-Off contest winner David Pascual. An update to Moto Connect will also make it possible for you to create your own. The My Design watch face option will allow you to customize everything from the background image to the style of the tick marks and watch hands.

Motorola is also getting a new fitness app called Moto Body. While you can already measure heart rate and count steps, the new app will let you track distance travelled as well as calories burned. Using the information collected, it will also provide you with new goals to strive for.
