New specification details emerge about Moto X+1?

Rumoured Moto X+1Motorola is carving itself an impressive reputation in the affordable smartphone market with devices such as the Moto E, the Moto G and the Moto G with 4G LTE (which we took a closer look at). At the flagship level, Motorola is widely expected to soon announce a successor to its Moto X which launched last summer. TK Tech News claims to have obtained key specification details about the Moto X+1.

According to a Motorola source, the Moto X+1 will come in two configurations. Both will come with a Full HD (1080×1920) display (possibly 5.2-inch according to older rumours) and 2GB of RAM. Motorola will also follow the trend of adopting thinner bezels. An updated camera is also planned and Motorola is reportedly still considering two options.

On the design front, the device(s) will look much like the Moto X but could borrow some design cues from the Verizon DROID Ultra as well.

The first variant will come with internal storage options of either 16GB or 32GB. It will not support external storage. But a 64GB model will also come with a microSD card slot.

While it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Motorola would go with two somewhat different variants of its flagship, it certainly would be an unusual move. Perhaps only the 64GB model will launch as the Moto X+1 with the other launching as something else like the Moto X (2014).

Motorola is reportedly aiming for a late August or September launch. This timeline could change based on what camera module it decides to go with.

As with any rumours, take all this with a grain of salt. TK Tech News has also gotten things wrong in the past so a second pinch of salt may be called for as well. The fact that the site claims to have been deliberately misled by Motorola about certain details about the Moto X+1 adds further uncertainty to the mix.
