Since Motorola unveiled the Moto 360 last week, it has provided quite a bit of information about its upcoming smartwatch. Unfortunately, that has left us wanting to know more about it. New Moto 360 images have now given us a few more details.
As we already knew, the Moto 360 will be customizable, much as the Moto X (through MotoMaker) and Moto G (with an assortment of back plates) are. Motorola will offer a range of replaceable watchbands. Among them should be metal, rubber and leather ones. One shot shows the back of the watch, revealing a purple case back likely made of plastic. Slashgear suggests that successive models could each come with their own colour. It could also be another customizable option.
On the left side is a single microphone hole. With the Moto 360 supporting voice commands, this is not a surprise. On the right side is the watch crown which will likely also act as a button. Most interesting is Slashgear’s supposition that the crown could be used to manually wind up the watch. Not only would this be another feature that ties the Moto 360 back to watches but it would certainly be a useful feature to help manage battery life.
On the software side, the new images confirm that the Moto 360 will have customizable watch faces. For example, one shows a battery meter in a subdial.
Motorola expects to launch the Moto 360 sometime this summer. There have been rumours that it is facing production challenges that could affect availability and make it a pricier device than many of us are hoping for.
