A leaked brochure from Australian carrier Telstra for the upcoming All New HTC One appears to have solved one of its last remaining mysteries: How will HTC use and market its dual-sensor rear camera? The flyer reveals that it will be called a Duo Camera. According to the brochure, it will let you:
Create vivid images even in low light and professionally edit memories after you’ve taken the shot. Choose where to focus, highlight what you love, soften backgrounds and add 3D effects.
It all suggests that HTC will jump on the adjustable focus feature that is quickly becoming a staple on flagship devices since Nokia introduced its Refocus app (part of the Lumia Black update). We’ve recently seen similar features introduced on the Samsung Gaalxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and LG G Pro 2. HTC’s approach with two cameras could improve on current solutions as it will not need multiple shots. The ability to choose the focus and soften background could make it easy to create bokeh effects as well.
The camera may also be able to take 3D pictures as well as add 3D effects to pictures but it’s not exactly clear what the latter means.
The flyer also confirms previously leaked specifications including the all-metal body with a scratch resistant 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display, HTC BoomSound speakers and HTC Sense 6.0.
The brochure also reveals that the All New HTC One will sell for AU$840 (about CA$840) outright.
HTC will formally announce the All New HTC One on March 25 at simultaneous events in New York and London.
