Contrary to earlier leaks, a rumour yesterday suggested that HTC might unveil its new Hima flagship smartphone at CES 2015. It now appears that while HTC is indeed bringing new smartphones to CES, it will not be its latest flagship smartphone. Chinese leaker @upleaks who believes the launch will follow somewhat later found an HTC invitation teaser that effectively confirms that the company will instead unveil one or more HTC Desire smartphones.
Posted on China’s Weibo social network, the poster comes with the tagline “Always Desire more.” There is little else to go on but @upleaks believes that HTC will unveil the HTC A52, a selfie smartphone packing a 13MP front-facing camera. This could explain the promiment camera on the render spotted yesterday.
Little is known about the HTC A52 but it should come in a range of colours including Navy Blue/Vivid Blue, Taupe Purple/Tangerine Tango, Terra White/Almond and Terra White/Tangerine Tango. A variant for China may replace the 13MP camera with a 4MP UltraPixel Camera.
As for the HTC Hima, current rumours suggest it will be announced sometime in March at a dedicated event (much as HTC did last year with the HTC One (M8) launch).
