New 5.2-inch HTC flagship to replace HTC One Max?

HTCNew details emerged today about HTC’s product roadmap for the rest of the year. Recent rumours have suggested that HTC has halted development of the HTC M8 Prime, likely in favour of the HTC M8 Plus and HTC M8 Advance. Phone Arena has now learned that the HTC M8 Prime is indeed no more and that company is planning to replace last year’s HTC One Max with a new 5.2-inch flagship device.

No further information is provided about this new flagship, leading us to wonder if this device is none other than the HTC M8 Plus? Earlier rumours about it failed to provide a display size, saying only that it would be a “2K display with highest pixel count to date.” If indeed the same device, we can also expect it to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM,  a single 13MP rear camera with optical image stabilization and a metal body similar to that of the HTC One (M8) but with added dust and water resistance.

If not the same device, it’s one more for what is shaping up to be a busy second half of the year for HTC. It would join the HTC M8 Plus, HTC M8 Advance and the Nexus 8 that the company is reportedly building for Google. In regards to that last device, the report adds that Google will not unveil it at next week’s Google I/O event. It will instead do so at a separate event later this year.
