MWC 2014: Nokia unveils Nokia X+ and Nokia XL alongside Nokia X

Nokia XLThe rumours that Nokia had more than one Android-powered smartphone in the works turned out to be correct. Along with the Nokia X, Nokia today announced the Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL. As with their sibling, these two handsets are “priced to capture the fast-growing affordable smartphone market and provide an on-ramp to Lumia and Microsoft services like Skype, OneDrive and outlook.com.”

Like the Nokia X, the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL are using a heavily modified version of Google Android with a user interface that shares much with Windows Phone. They will not offer Google Mobile Services but instead offer similar offerings from Nokia and Microsoft.

Like the Nokia X, the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL are not designed to be high-end devices but are aimed at emerging markets where smartphone adoption is still a relatively new phenonemon.

The Nokia X+ and Nokia XL will launchin the same markets as the Nokia X, namely Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, starting in early April. The Nokia X+ will sell for €99 (about CA$150) and the Nokia XL for €109 (about CA$167).
