MWC 2014: MediaTek announces MT6732 64-bit LTE SOC for “Super-mid Market”

MediaTek chipsetMediaTek today announced its latest system-on-a-chip, the MediaTek MT6732, their first 64-bit LTE chipset for mobile devices. Built around four ARM Cortex-A53 cores paired to a Mali-T760 GPU and an LTE modem, the new chipset is geared at what MediaTek calls the “Super-mid Market” which consists of “billions of consumers ready to adopt smart devices with premium features at mainstream prices – many for the very first time.”

The MediaTek MT6732 SoC comes with:

  • Four 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A53 cores paired to a 16-core Mali-T760 GPU
  • Full support for Open GL ES 3.0 and Open CL 1.2
  • An integrated 13MP camera image signal processor
  • Category 4 FDD and TDD LTE (150 Mb/s downlink, 50 Mb/s uplink)
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi support
  • Bluetooth 4.0

Devices running the MediaTek MT6732 are expected to launch before the end of the year.

The octa-core MediaTek MT6752 SoC which had been rumoured to launch alongside the MT6732 did not materialize today.
