Ahead of an event on May 13, Motorola’s website continues to drop hints as to what it could be announcing. We’ve seen the Moto X+1 pop up twice now but it is only expected to launch later this summer. But another mysterious device or devices have now also appeared on Motorola’s website. In all, three new names have been found: Moto 4G, 4G Global and Moto 3G 4GB. While the pages reveal little, they do appear to list a potential price. The Moto 4G and Moto 4G Global are priced at US$189 while the Moto 3G 4GB is listed at US$179.
Meanwhile, the usually reliable @evleaks has posted an image that also appears to have come from Motorola’s website. it shows something called the Moto G Cinema. Found in the support section, an accompanying caption reads “You’ve got the device. We’ve got the tools to help. How-to’s, forums, live support and so much more.”
All in all, it gives us little to go on. But we can always conjecture. The three pages could be placeholders for a successor to the Moto G. The names suggest we could see both 4G and 3G models with the latter coming with only 4GB of onboard storage. With so little room for apps and data, it would likely come with support for external storage. The price differential with the 4G models suggests that they could come with the storage configuration. It is also possible that these could be placeholder pages for the Moto E. Rumours have already identified three variants, the XT1021, XT1022 and XT1025, and leaked specifications showed it would only come with 4GB of internal storage. They could also be a completely new device available in both 4G and 3G configurations.
Then there is the Moto G Cinema. This could well be the Moto G’s successor. The name could be a hint that it would come with a better camera, possibly along with 4G connectivity and other upgraded specifications. It could also be a new software app specific to the Moto G.
At this point, your guess is as good as ours. Fortunately, May 13 is not too far away and we will finally learn what Motorola is up to this time around.
