Motorola readying XT1021, XT1022 and XT1025 for May launch?

Rumoured Motorola XT1025 specificationsMotorola impressed many (including us) late last year with the Moto G. While it could not be confused with a flagship device, the Moto G managed to strike a strong balance between solid specifications and a price that was wallet-friendly. But Motorola also indicated that it wanted to go further in the future. Former CEO Dennis Woodside said in January that one of the company’s goals was to come up with a phone of the same quality if not specifications as the Moto G at a significantly lower price, perhaps as low as US$50 eventually. It may get one step closer with a new line of ultra-thin smartphones currently only known as the XT1021, XT1022 and XT1025.

First spotted by Brazil’s Tecnoblog, the three devices appear to be variants with the XT1021 being a single-SIM model, the XT1022 a dual-SIM one and the XT1025 sporting dual-SIM as well as digital TV support. Alleged specifications have surfaced as well, suggesting a device that could sell for less than the Moto G.

Rumoured XT1021 specifications:

  • Processor: Dual-core (2 × 1.2GHz)
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.4 Kit kat
  • Cellular connectivity: 2G/3G
  • Other connectivity: Bluetooth
  • Display: 4.3-inch
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Internal storage: 4GB
  • Rear-facing camera: 5MP
  • Front-facing camera: None
  • Battery: 1,900mAh
  • Dimensions: 124.8 × 64.8 × 6.2 millimeters
  • Other: FM radio

The report adds that XT1025 could sell for BRL599 (about CA$295). If accurate, it would be more expensive than the Moto G is. That seems at odd with the specifications listed as they certainly are not better than those of the Moto G. Let’s hope new details surface quickly to shed more light on this.

The Motorola XT1021, XT1022 and XT1025 have all been certified by Anatel, Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency, and could launch as early as May.
