After LG earlier today that it will hold its next major event on May 27, it’s Motorola’s turn to announce it has one planned as well. The next Motorola smartphone will be unveiled at an event that will take place in London. Unlike LG though, the device Motorola will unveil is unlikely to be a new flagship smartphone. It is billed as “Made to last” and “Priced for all,” suggesting a more affordable device.
“Connect more people to the world’s information and each other, and they can do great things. Come experience the next smartphone from Motorola that’s making these connections happen. Made to last. Priced for all.”
As is so often the case with such press invitations, there are few clues as to what kind of smartphone Motorola could unveil. There are a couple of possibilities. The first is the rumoured Moto E, an inexpensive device that promises to be ultra-thin (6.2 millimeters). A second one, suggested by The Verge, is that Motorola may announce a slightly revised version of the Moto G that would come with LTE support perhaps through the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.
With two weeks to go before the announcement, we may yet see a few leaks that will shed some light on what Motorola has in store for us.
Update: Motorola will hold an event in Toronto as well. We’ll be there and will bring you all the news but it’s a good indication that a new Motorola smartphone is coming to Canada very soon.
