You can add Motorola to the list of smartphone manufacturers set to hold a press event at MWC 2014. Motorola’s event will take place on February 25 at the Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona.
As for what Motorola plans to reveal at the event, the invitation reveals little but does indicate that senior executives will be in attendance, including CEO Dennis Woodside who will provide an “update on the business.” With Motorola having just been sold by Google to Lenovo for US$2.91 billion, it will be interesting to see what is in store for the company. Keep in mind though that the acquisition still needs to go through all the regulatory approvals so it may be status quo until the merger is official. More details are promised closer to the event.
Details recently emerged about Motorola’s product roadmap into 2015 so the company could still announce a device but that appears unlikely. If it does, could it be the 6-inch phablet called theMotorola Xplay, a smartwatch or another wearable device? Could it use the event to announce the expansion of MotoMaker to Europe? Your guess is as good as ours at this point.
