Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch to launch in July?

Motorola Moto 360

The Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch is among the most anticipated wearables. With a round watchface and a design that harkens back to traditional watches, Motorola appears to have come up with a design that not only delivers on the promise of smartwatches but does so in a stylish design. Since its announcement, Motorola has gradually offered new details but launch details remain elusive. Motorola has only indicated that a global launch will begin this summer in the U.S. Some new launch details may have come to light now courtesy of France’s Le Journal Du Geek.

The report indicates that the Moto 360 will make its debut in early July for €249 (about CA$370). It’s not clear at this point if this date is for France, Europe or even the global launch. With more details expected at Google I/O in late June, it would appear that the global rollout will indeed begin in July. If rumoured manufacturing headaches are indeed legitimate, we could see a phased rollout kicking off in July with limited availability in a small number of countries with wider availability to follow later.

Powered by Android Wear, the Moto 360 will be customizable with interchangeable bands available in a range of materials including leather. Rumours have also suggested that it will come with an OLED display and wireless charging.

While the Moto 360 looks set to sell for more than many other smartwatches currently on the market, it appears that it will still remain relatively affordable. For example, the Samsung Gear 2 currently sells for about CA$329.95 and the upcoming LG G Watch will apparently sell for €199 (about CA$300).

If the Moto 360 does sell for about CA$350 to CA$400, will you still consider getting one? Or would it need to be cheaper for you to jump on it?
