Following the announcement of Android 5.0 Lollipop (along with the new Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9), many are wondering whether the latest version of Android will land on their current device. Motorola and HTC have both quickly come out with announcements about their Android 5.0 Lollipop update plans.
In the same blog post that announced the Google Nexus 6 which is being built by Motorola, the company announced that the Moto X (both first and second generations), Moto G (both first and second generations), Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini will be updated to the latest version of Android.
Timing and specific details are still being worked out but Motorola has in recent years been among the first to offer updates to its customers. Keep those fingers crossed that it can extend that streak further.
HTC also announced its plans to deliver Android L to One devices “within 90 days” of the release of the Lollipop code. This presumably includes the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8
Remember, once Google releases Lollipop code, we'll deliver updates to One devices within 90 days. #HTCAdvantage

In its Lollipop announcement, Google has committed to upgrading the Google Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Google Play edition devices “in the coming weeks.”
We can expect similar announcement to come from other manufacturers in the coming days and weeks.
Update (10/16/2014): HTC has now provided more information as to what devices it currently plans on upgrading:
- HTC One (M7) – Within the 90 days after Lollipop code is released
- HTC One (M8) – Within the 90 days after Lollipop code is released
- HTC One mini – Schedule still TBD
