Details continue to emerge about what is likely to be Motorola’s next smart phone. After showing up on Motorola Mexico’s Facebook page yesterday, it has popped up on Brazilian retailer Fast Shop website with new pictures and specification details.
The new details line up fairly well with those of a previous leak. Perhaps the biggest difference is that the Moto E no longer appears to be an ultra-thin device. Whereas the first rumours listed a thickness of only 6.4 millimeters, these latest ones have it at 12.3 millimeters. While disappointing, this is certainly more in line with dimensions of an entry-level device.
Rumoured Moto E specifications:
- Processor: Dual-core (1.2GHz × 2) Qualcomm Snapdragon
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4 KitKat
- Cellular connectivity: 3G
- Other connectivity: Wi-Fi
- Display: 4.3-inch
- RAM: 1GB
- Internal storage: 4GB
- External storage: MicroSD cards up to 32GB
- Rear-facing camera: 5MP
- Front-facing camera: None
- Battery: 1,980mAh
- Dimensions: 124.8 × 64.8 × 12.3 millimeters
- Weight: 140 grams
- Colours: Black, White
- Other: Dual-SIM on XT1022 and XT1025, exchangeable back plates
These specifications confirm that Motorola is looking to make the Moto E “priced for all.” The hardware is either on par or somewhat below that of the Moto G which now sells for CA$200 outright. It all suggests a lower price.
Much like the Moto G, the Moto E will also be customizable with differently coloured backplates or Moto Shells, including cyan and lemon yellow.
While the device is clearly aimed at emerging markets, the fact that launch events are taking place here as well as other mature markets suggests that Motorola is also looking to offer it there as an entry-level device.
Motorola’s event is only two days away. We’ll bring you all the details as they come up!
