HTC’s new focus on the mid-range market may kick off with a new device called the HTC Desire 8. The new addition to HTC’s Desire line was first revealed by Chinese site MyDrivers and confirmed by Engadget‘s own sources.
The HTC Desire 8 will reportedly sport a 5.5-inch display (with unknown resolution), a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera with a beautification mode, support for dual SIMs and front-facing stereo speakers. It will be available in a range of colours, including white, red, yellow, orange, blue and green. A plastic body appears most likely. It may also adopt the same on-screen buttons as the upcoming HTC M8 but the leaked image does not show them.
An announcement could happen as early as MWC 2014 (alongside the HTC M8 presumably) but the screenshot’s March 18 date and Beijing location could also be hints of a later announcement. Unlike companies such as LG, Nokia and Samsung, HTC has yet to publicly announce an MWC 2014 press event though. With rumours that the HTC M8 announcement has been delayed to March, perhaps there will not be any HTC announcements at MWC this year.
