MediaTek two days ago announced the MediaTek MT6732 64-bit LTE SoC for the “super-mid market” at Mobile World Congress. At the time, we wondered about the octa-core MediaTek MT6752 SoC which had been rumoured to launch alongside. For whatever reason, MediaTek decided to give it its own announcement today. The 64-bit MediaTek MT6752 packs eight 2.0GHz ARM Cortex-53 cores along with a Mali-T760 GPU and integrated LTE capabilities. It is geared at smartphones in the “super-mid market.”

We continue to democratize technology as previously seen in the TV and DVD industries. We launched world’s first true octa-core solution in November 2013 and now we continue to extend our lead to deliver on our vision to make the world a more inclusive place,” said Jeffrey Ju, General Manager of the MediaTek Smartphone Business Unit.
Among the features offered by the MT6752 platform are:
- Support for low-power, 1080p, 30fps video playback supporting the H.265 and legacy H.264 video codecs and 1080p, 30fps H.264 video recording
- Integrated 16MP camera image signal processor
- MediaTek ClearMotion technology to eliminate motion jitter and ensure smooth video playback at 60fps on mobile devices
- MediaTek MiraVision technology for DTV-grade picture quality
- Integrated Multi-mode 4G LTE Modem (Category 4 with 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink)
MediaTek plans to have the MT6752 commercially available in early Q3 with mass production set to follow in Q4.
