The smartwatch market continues to grow at a fast pace. One more option will be available in the U.S. by June 1, 2014. Martian, which already offers a number of smartwatches under its Voice Command line, today announced its new Martian Notifier line of smartwatches will be available in major retail outlets across the U.S. starting June 1. Aimed at the fashion- and cost-conscious consumer who wants a notification-enabled smartwatch, the Notifier will sell for US$129, less than the rest of its watches.
“The outpouring of support that the Martian Notifier has received for design, function and price from press, fans and customers has been amazing and has continued over into this exciting announcement today,” said Stan Kinsey, President of Martian Watches. “Since our launch, we’ve learned that people want their wearable technology, but they also want it to look stylish. We are thrilled to make that a reality.”
The Martian Notifier is an analog watch with a 96 by 16 pixel OLED display in the lower portion of the dial. The Martian App, available for both Android and iOS, allows you to configure exactly what alerts and notifications you want to send to your Notifier. Customized vibration patterns can be set up for each type of alert to let you know what notification just arrived without you even looking at your watch.
The Notifier also comes with the ability to activate your smartphone’s speakerphone for use with voice commands. It also lets you decline incoming calls, set silent vibrating alarms that only you will sense and get once-an-hour tickler to mark the top of the hour (useful for breaks for example).
One clever feature the Martian Notifier has is separate batteries for the analog watch and OLED display. While the latter will give you up to 5 days of use time, the former will ensure that your watch runs without for up to two years.

Update: Good news for Canada. Martian Watches confirmed to us that they are planning to make it north of the border sometime this summer. We’ll bring you more details as soon as we have them.
