We told you a few days back that Microsoft was negotiating with Nokia to continue to use the Nokia brand for its smartphones. The deal, assuming it closes, would see Microsoft brand future smartphones “Nokia by Microsoft.” It now appears that the two companies may have indeed come to terms as the the new branding has been spotted on an upcoming smartphone.
The device in question appears to be the Nokia Lumia 830. The render was first spotted on China’s Baidu by WindowsBlogItalia. The image clearly shows the Nokia by Microsoft branding on the back next to what appears to be a 13MP PureView Camera with Zeiss lens.
The Nokia Lumia 830 is expected to be a mid-range Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone that will succeed the Lumia 820. The aptly name 830 appears to sport an aluminium frame with a polycarbonate back based on earlier pictures including the one below. There is no word on the specifications it could come with beyond the details we’ve gleaned about the camera.
With all the recent hoaxes we’ve seen recently, the Samsung Galaxy F picture and the HTC Volantis specifications to name but two, take this latest image with a healthy pinch of salt and a liberal dose of skepticism.
