While most of the attention may be focused on the upcoming LG G3, recent rumours have hinted that the Korean company plans to launch a successor to last year’s LG Optimus G Pro before it launches its next LG flagship smartphone. The LG G Pro 2 could be unveiled in Barcelona as early as MWC 2014. A new rumour provides credence for the launch date but provides contradicting information when it comes to a key specification.
According to Korea’s ETNews, the LG G Pro 2 will come with a 6-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display rather than a QHD (2560×1440) one as previously reported. While this may be disappointing, it does make sense that LG would save its first QHD display for its upcoming flagship. Then again, the LG Optimus G Pro was LG’s smartphone to pack a Full HD display so there may yet be hope that the new LG G Pro 2 will come with a QHD display.
The report outlines other specifications as well. They include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, LTE-Advanced connectivity, and Google Android 4.4 KitKat. It could also be LG’s first smartphone to come with 3GB of RAM.
With this second report hinting at a MWC 2014 launch, all should be revealed in about a month.
