It’s been a while since we talked about the LG G3. While some rumours suggested that it would launch at Mobile World Congress, LG chose to unveil a number of devices ahead of the event and none were its next flagship smartphone. The LG G3 is now expected in the summer timeframe. Earlier this week, @evleaks tweeted that the LG-D850 was headed to AT&T.
While there was no mention of the device name itself, @evleaks did point out that the LG-D800 was the LG G2, the LG-D82x was the Google Nexus 5 and the LG-D83x was the LG G Pro 2. It’s logical to conclude that the LG-D850 will be another high-end device. From there, it’s a small leap of conjecture to suggest that the LG-D850 is none other than the LG G3.

Let’s add to this some information that we have received. According to a tipster who will remain anonymous, LG has a new device codenamed B2 in the works. The LG G Pro 2 was apparently codenamed B1 during development so the B2 could be a successor but it seems far too early for that. A codename for another high-end device seems more plausible. We’ve also been made aware of two models: The LG-D851 for T-Mobile USA and the LG-VS985 4G for Verizon Wireless. Our source makes no mention of the LG-D850 but suggests that the B2 could well be the LG G3. It certainly all fits – not that it necessarily makes it right though.
As for specifications, we’ve only been told that the LG G3 will support 4K video capture and 120fps slow motion. Both are features LG introduced with the LG G Pro 2 and could plausibly make their way over to the LG G3 when it launches.
We’ll keep our eyes and ears open to see if these model numbers resurface and continue to point to the LG G3.
Thanks, tipster!
