LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade headed to South Korea

Android 5.0 upgrade for LG G3LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrades kicked off about two weeks ago in Poland with LG proclaiming it was “the first global smartphone manufacturer to offer the Lollipop upgrade in 2014.” The company promised that other key markets would follow “in the near future” and it is now starting to make good on that promise. Up next is LG’s own home country of South Korea.

According to LG Korea, the update is expecetd to begin rolling out by the end of the week to all three major wireless operators there (Korea Telelcom, LG U+ and SK Telecom).

The move will presumably be followed by a wider rollout in the weeks to come. LG has yet to provide further details on these plans though. It may well be that it is waiting on the outcome of the rollout in South Korea, a larger market than Poland, before committing to further rollouts. Needless to say, there is no word yet on when Canadian users will see the update yet.

LG also reiterated that it will announce upgrade plans for additional devices later on but again did not provide any specifics.
